Crisis
The Crisis Residential Unit (CRU) is a sixteen bed residential psychiatric stabilization and detoxification service for adults in Huntington, West Virginia. This voluntary program provides a safe, intensive treatment environment for those experiencing an acute mental health crisis. The crisis unit can prevent psychiatric hospitalization, or can serve as a step-down from more intensive services or a psychiatric hospital setting. Evaluations and plans for treatment services are decided at admission and focus on the problems that trigger a crisis situation. Detoxification from alcohol or other depressants or opioids and opiates is also provided.
Crisis stabilization services include daily psychiatric medication reviews, group therapy, individual and group supportive counseling, education about mental illness, treatment planning, on-going evaluation, case management and treatment planning services to enable a smooth transition back into the community to continue services.
After-hours, on-call emergency services are available for the following counties in WV: Cabell, Wayne, Lincoln, Mason, Kanawha, Putnam, Boone and Clay.
If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, please call 1-800-642-3434, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
