Description of Program

The Children’s Outpatient Program provides clinic-based individual and family therapy to children ages 4 – 18. Therapists work with the children and their families to develop an individualized treatment plan. Special topics for group therapy may be announced throughout the year based on the needs of consumers.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Children’s Outpatient Program is to provide individualized, high quality therapy services to children with emotional, behavioral or substance abuse issues.

Days/Hours of Operation

Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm. Evening appointments are based on the psychiatrists’ schedules and special needs of the individual consumers.

Admission Criteria

The program serves children between the ages of four and eighteen. Some individuals continue to qualify for the program after the age of eighteen if they are still involved in school. The consumer must have a DSM-IV diagnosis that is eligible for therapy services.

Continuing Stay Criteria

The consumer remains eligible for services based on continuing to make progress towards treatment goals and participation in scheduled services.

Discharge Criteria

The consumer may be discharged from therapy services under the following circumstances: all goals and objectives on treatment plan have been met, improvement in functioning, and/or if the child does not regularly attend scheduled appointments. The consumer may also be discharged, (or transferred to an adult therapist), if he/she reaches his/her eighteenth birthday or graduates from school.

Days/Hours Operation

The program operates Monday through Thursday 8:30A.M. to 6:00 P.M. and 8:30-5:00 on Friday. Evening appointments are based on the special needs of the individual consumers.

Staffing Pattern

The Children’s Outpatient team is staffed with two MA level licensed therapists. The program is clinically supervised by the Assistant Director of the Children’s Department. The number of clients each therapist serves is based on the severity/complexity of the client’s needs. This staffing pattern is sufficient to meet the needs of the consumers.
